Unless otherwise stated in the item size, these are grower's choice.
Anthurium Hybrid — an established seedling from an open or hybrid cross. As an unspecified hybrid, expression can vary from seedling to seedling, which is part of the appeal: each plant matures into its own slightly different leaf shape, vein pattern, and texture. A great entry point for collectors who want to explore the Anthurium genus without committing to a premium named cultivar.
Seed origin: These seedlings were grown from seeds gifted to us by our friend Alecia B., a fellow Anthurium enthusiast — a small acknowledgment of the collector community that makes this kind of stewardship possible.
Grower's choice: All seedlings are hand-selected for health. Photos are representative of current stock — leaf shape, size, and venation will vary between plants since each seedling is genetically unique.
What you'll receive: One established seedling with developed roots and multiple leaves — past the fragile early stage and ready to settle into your collection. Anthurium seedlings grow on character as they mature, so expect the plant to evolve visually over time.
Care:
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Keep the medium evenly moist but not soggy. Anthuriums hate sitting in water but also don't tolerate fully drying out.
- Medium: Chunky aroid mix — bark, perlite, charcoal, a bit of sphagnum. Roots need airflow.
- Humidity: 60%+ is ideal. Higher humidity supports stronger leaf development.
- Temperature: Warm — 65-85°F. Avoid cold drafts.
Insulation and/or Heat Pack strongly recommended for shipping when temperatures drop below 50°F.
For pest prevention I use beneficial insects, and otherwise treat with natural, chemical-free products like PureCrop1.
